Tequila forged from the spirit of independence
Hornitos has never been much for rules.
MAKING HISTORY
Hornitos is the product of a long line of bold, revolutionary thinkers. It began in the 19th century with Don Cenobio Sauza, who first named the agave-based spirit “tequila” in honor of the rugged land where it was grown, broadcasting his pride in his homeland and product. Don Cenobio had a bold idea for how to make tequila taste better: he decided to cook the piñas in hornitos, or “little ovens,” rather than over an open flame. This made for a brighter, fresher-tasting tequila.
HONORING HISTORY
In 1950, Don Francisco Javier Sauza launched Hornitos on Mexican Independence Day, staking his own bold claim in the history of tequila by creating the first Reposado before the word even existed. His agave-forward tequila with deep, complex notes from the barrel-resting process was a fresh take on what the spirit could be.
A FRESH TAKE
Now, Hornitos continues along the path that our founders forged. Bold. Fresh. Independent. It’s about more than tequila. It’s a fresh take on life.
